Dating in Castlefield
In shortCastlefield is where the canals meet under a tangle of Victorian railway viaducts, at the south end of Deansgate. It is a good place for a walk that turns into a drink. On a dry evening the canal basin makes an easy meeting point.

Castlefield Viaduct
The National Trust has turned a Grade II listed railway viaduct from 1892 into a garden in the sky. It is normally a walk-up visit with no booking, but it was closed for maintenance into autumn 2026, so check it has reopened before you plan around it.
