Dating safely

Most people you meet are exactly who they say. These habits protect you from the few who aren’t.

Report romance fraud

If someone you met online asks for money, crypto or gift cards, stop and report it to Report Fraud through its online reporting service or on 0300 123 2040. If you have already sent money, contact your bank straight away. In an emergency, call 999.

Know the warning signs

Be careful if things move very fast or feel very intense early on, or if someone keeps avoiding meeting in person or a live video call. Never send money to someone you have not met face to face, and talk to a friend if something feels off.

Getting help on trams and buses

Every Metrolink stop has an emergency call point, and each tram has two. You can report a problem discreetly to Greater Manchester Police through TravelSafe LiveChat at gmp.police.uk/livechat or by calling 101, and on trains you can text British Transport Police on 61016.
