Manchester Art Gallery
The gallery on Mosley Street is free and open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Its Pre-Raphaelite collection, with work by Rossetti and Ford Madox Brown, gives you plenty to talk about.

Makers and coffee on Oak Street
Manchester Craft and Design Centre has about 20 makers' studios under one roof, with free exhibitions and Fred's cafe inside. From 14 November to 24 December it runs a festive season with craft workshops.

In 2026 the markets run from 6 November to 22 December across ten city centre sites, including Albert Square, Cathedral Gardens, King Street and St Ann's Square. The stalls at Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens stay open until 3 January 2027.
